2007-08 Cincinnati Bengals
So, Carlson Palmer. So long as the Bengals have him on hand, fans looking to buy Cincinnati tickets will have high hopes for their team this season. There's even more talent in the offence besides Palmer, though. There's Chad Johnson, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Rudi Johnson. But, the Bengals still have to deal with Chad Henry missing out on the first 8 games, and a terrible defense last season. It remains to be seen how it will hold up
this season, in spite of the talented offence - and if it will be good enough to face the Ravens.
Previous Seasons
With a potent offense that includes flashy wide receiver Chad Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals football tickets finally mean more than watching the team from Ohio suffer through another losing season. While some teams in the National Football League have faced periods of problems, the Bengals monumental struggle of the last 15 years has earned them one of the worst reputations in professional football. That’s all in the past. 2005-2006 marks the Bengals first winning season in 15 years, and head coach Marvin Lewis is proud to take his team to the playoffs.
Fans in Cincinnati remember a long history of failure for their franchise. Before the 15-year drought, the Bengals made two losing appearances in the Super Bowl. However, these two years mark the Bengals’ highest level of achievement in their 35 seasons in the league. With only eight playoff appearances in their history, the Bengals have yet to see an era of consistently strong play. After moving into Paul Brown Stadium, named for the franchise’s founder and first coach, Cincinnati fans believe that their team can finally build a tradition of success in the newly arranged AFC North division.
Cincinnati boasts one former player in the Hall of Fame: offensive lineman Anthony Muñoz, whose three selections as Offensive Lineman of the Year during the 1980s highlighted the Cincinnati defense and helped the Bengals reach the Super Bowl in 1981 and 1988. Other notable players of the Bengals’ past include quarterback Boomer Esiason and fullback Ickey Woods who contributed to the Bengals’ success before their years of misery began after the 1990 season. Esiason’s mastery of the play action pass helped Cincinnati win the AFC Central twice, and he holds a number of the team’s career passing records. Woods’ career began with a flourish when he scored 15 touchdowns in his rookie season of 1988, but the fullback’s success was short-lived due to injuries. Perhaps his most significant contribution to the game was his “Ickey Shuffle”, a dance performed after each touchdown.
Woods’ tradition of celebration continues in Cincinnati as Chad Johnson has become the most recent player to choreograph his post-score antics, but the 2005-2006 Bengals reach the end zone more frequently than other teams of the franchise’s past. Young quarterback Carson Palmer has already shattered some of Esiason’s previous records, finishing second in the AFC in passing percentage. Tailback Rudi Johnson now owns the record for rushing yards in one season because of his performance during this season. The team’s defense has proven itself to be powerful due to Deltha O’Neal’s and Tory James’ interceptions, and Bengals fans hope to make enough noise to push their team through the playoffs. When they do, Cincinnati Bengals ticket will be the NFL tickets that roar.
